150MW GAS-FIRED POWER PROJECT IN ABEOKUTA, OGUN STATE, NIGERIA

In contributing to the drive towards developing a sustainable, clean and cost effective solution for Nigeria’s electricity problem, Energy Culture decided to exploit the potentials of her diverse industry knowledge and network, in order to scale up the existing captive electricity generating business through developing an efficient base-load electricity supply structure that is tailored to support Nigeria’s economic productivity. This project consists of a 150MW Natural Gas-fired, Power Generation Plant, under development to dispatch power to the national grid, through a commercial understanding with the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading PLC (NBET), by a consortium led by Energy Culture for a period of 20 years. All factors relating to title, risk, and events of delivery, under the typical “take or pay” contractual obligations, were duly noted. All studies and surveys were successfully carried out and completed in line with the applicable regulatory and financing requirements of the project. Field activities such as the topographical survey, soil investigation (geotechnical & geophysical surveys), gas pipeline routing survey, conceptual design works, and the evacuation load study, form part of those activities completed. The project has been licensed and approved for evacuation to the grid by relevant authorities, while, key transaction documents have undergone review and collation to enable the commencement of negotiations. The project is being developed in collaboration with General Electric International Operations and a host of other power industry heavyweights.
